Vice President of Finance and Administration

Our client is a great high school in the DC metro area. The organization is seeking a Vice President (VP) of Finance and Administration to join their Leadership Team and will be responsible for the planning, coordinating, and logistics of managing all non-instructional functions of both the High School and the Corporate Work Study Program (CWSP) with a results-driven approach. This position will be the subject matter expert for school operations successfully executing systems, processes and policies in all non-instructional areas. The VP serves as a member of the school’s leadership team and advises the President on all operations, school policies, finance, budget and human resource matters and other items related to the administration of the school.

The VP participates in general and committee meetings of the Board of Directors and implements directives as delegated by the President. Serves as liaison to the Board Finance Committee.

Job Summary

Managing all administrative functions of Human Resources and Sites departments under the direction of the Chief Operating Officer (COO), the Director of Human Resources and Operations ensures alignment with the organization’s mission. In addition to evaluating, planning, and implementing programs to support core functional areas such as compensation and benefits, compliance, HR systems, employee engagement, performance management, and organizational strategy, the Director will also be responsible for enhancing the organization’s Human Resources department. In addition to managing direct reports, the Director serves on the Executive leadership team and reports to the COO.

Requirements:

  • A degree or certificate in Business Management, Business Operations, and/or related Business certifications are a plus.
  • At least 5 years of management/director-level experience in a nonprofit organization.
  • Experience in administration, operations, and/or human resources management is required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or related field required; Master’s degree and/or CPA strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 8 – 10 years of progressive not-for-profit work experience in finance/accounting and business administration.
  • Experience with Human Resource management required.
  • Experience with facilities management preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel in particular, and database management.
  • Advanced knowledge of QuickBooks or similar accounting software
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is helpful, but not required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
