Job Summary
Our growing client is seeking a Manager, Environment Health and Safety (EHS) & Operations who will report to the Director, Facilities & Engineering. The Manager, EHS & Operations ensures that all units are properly equipped and that personnel within each unit are trained and supervised to perform their duties safely. In addition, the Manager, EHS & Operations will direct usage, services, and maintenance of office space and laboratory facilities.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to oversight of the following areas:
- Direct all environmental, health, and safety (EHS) efforts and communications
- Manage the development, implementation, and update of safety policy, procedures, and manuals
- Ensure that EHS reports are submitted to federal and state agencies; maintain records of all filings
- Coordinate required safety training, and maintain safety training records
- Oversee safety new hire orientation; coordinate new hire training presentation and documentation
- Manage emergency evacuation procedure, chemical inventory, equipment system, building access cards, and work orders
- Direct effort to provide the necessary office/desk area as per staff planning efforts
- Assure that all units are properly equipped and that personnel within each unit are trained and supervised to perform duties safely
- Coordinate service maintenance agreements and custodial contract to ensure facilities are equipped, kept up to standard, and functional
- Organize equipment relocation or disposal
- Supervise EHS personnel
- Other responsibilities as needed
Knowledge & Other Qualifications
- B.S. with 3-5 years related experience
- Experience in a biotechnological environment preferred
- OSHA 10/30 – General Industry required
- Experience with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), current Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) required
Other Characteristics
- Good computer and project management skills
- Microsoft Office experience preferred, including SharePoint
Physical Requirements/Work Environment/Travel Requirements
- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
- Must be able to walk the facility
- Subject to hot/cold climate-temperatures
- Travel between sites in the DC Metro area
