Job Summary
Our client, a dynamic and growing non-profit organization, is seeking a Director of Industry Relations to join its Arlington, VA office. The Director of Industry Relations will lead the strategy for the Industry Relations team; deepen and broaden industry financial support and work closely with the Executive Director and other leaders to achieve annual fundraising goals. Develop, oversee, and implement relationship building plan for industry partners including prospecting, cultivation, stewardship, solicitation, appreciation, and recognition.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following areas:
- Develop and execute an annual, comprehensive fundraising strategic plan that includes specific fundraising goals and targets, which increases organizational sustainability, year-round industry relations cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship, with a focus on the acquisition of annual investments at or above the $25,000 level
- Manage the operation of all funded partnership opportunities with companies (primarily pharmaceutical, biotech, diagnostics, and medical device companies) and other organizations with an interest in workforce development
- Monitor, evaluate, and report on a regular basis on the industry partners pipeline and funnel of prospects; track proposals and report on target deadlines to ensure timely response and completion
- Assess market opportunities on an on-going basis for new sponsorship prospects and opportunities, market needs, and other trends in the industry
- Manage the development and delivery of proposals in response to requests for support consideration; prepare and deliver pitch decks and related presentations
- Establish, develop, and manage an Industry Relations Council with the goal to develop increased partnership engagement
- Maintain working knowledge of programmatic priorities and issues, distill this knowledge into an annual partnership prospectus of investment opportunities for industry, with regular revisions to partner benefits to meet changing objectives
- Work collaboratively and cooperatively with Director-level staff to ensure the most strategic partner-driven strategies
- Develop, manage, and report on a cost-effective budget for revenue and expenses related to industry fundraising programs and goals; oversee production of related progress to goals reports to senior leadership and Board members
- Coordinate across departments to ensure appropriate recognition is executed for all industry partners through applicable marketing channels and at relevant events
- Supervise, coach, develop, and mentor a team of fundraisers focused on growing new industry partnerships while sustaining current relationships
- Travel required to attend industry events, present customer proposals and steward existing partners (up to 30% of time)
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent experience
- 10-15 years of related experience with increasing responsibilities in fundraising or similar field, preferably in healthcare
- Broad understanding of sponsorship and partnership fundraising models
- Familiarity with donor database management and systems to track donor history, interests, and activity; use data and research to guide development program priorities
- Specific proficiency with Microsoft Office, SalesForce, RelSci, LinkedIn Navigator, and other account management software tools is preferred
- Project management and staff leadership experience, including proven ability to build passion toward goals, motivate, lead, set objectives, and manage the performance of a Board of Directors or a volunteer team

- Ability to develop and execute long-term cultivation and solicitation strategies for large corporations
- Demonstrate commitment to the mission and vision of the organization, combined with ability to engage and excite staff and lay leaders as active participants in the culture of philanthropy
The organization has a highly competitive total compensation package, offers flexible work arrangements and our organizational culture is highly rated by staff. This is currently a remote role and will have telework options when the office re-opens. The new office is located two blocks from the metro and has a free gym onsite for all employees.
